Traveling to the Netherlands with a facilitating visa 

Do you want to come to the Netherlands and are you traveling with or to a family member with the nationality ofEU,

EEA or Switzerland? Or do you, as a foreign parent, have aminor child with your Dutch partner?

 

Then you can apply for a facilitating visa. With the facilitating visa you travel to the Netherlands with your child. You can also go with a family member with the nationality ofEU, EEA or Switzerland travel to the Netherlands.

Facilitating visa

Do you have a visa-required nationality? Then you need a visa to travel to the Netherlands.Family members of Union citizens receive a Schengen visa for 90 days (visa type C) free of charge if they want to live with their family member in the Netherlands. This is called a facilitating visa.

 

You apply for the facilitating visa at the Dutch embassy or consulate in the country where you live.

You indicate that you will live in the Netherlands with your family member who has the nationality of an EU, EEA or Switzerland country. You use documents to prove that you are a family member of the Union citizen.

After you have arrived in the Netherlands with a facilitating visa

After you have arrived in the Netherlands with a facilitating visa, the EU law assessment application -  be submitted to the IND, the Immigration and Naturalization Service through the Chavez procedure.

 

When assessing against EU law, there are:other conditions, is the foreign parent or family membernot subject to integration obligation with regard to the A1 basic integration exam abroad and apply to the referent, i.e. the Dutch citizenno income conditions in the case of family reunification

We will guide you through the complete process of your application. We guide you through all the necessary paperwork for the application, we take care of requesting, collecting, completing, checking, legalizing and submitting the correct forms and (foreign) documents. We can also assist you with translating your foreign documents. When your application is complete, we will submit your application for a residence permit to the IND.


All communication and correspondence with parties involved such as the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND)  we will handle this directly for you.

 

Registration with the municipality and residence permit

 

​After we have submitted the application to the IND, we will make an appointment for you at the municipality to register you as 'provisional residents' while the procedure is still being processed by the IND. We also make an appointment with the IND for atemporary residence permitin your passport. This allows you to prove your right to stay during the ongoing procedure and, for example, insure yourself against sickness costs or to work for an employer.

 

After the IND has granted your application, we will issue your residence permit and you, as a foreign parent, have the right to reside.until your child is 18 years old. Your residence permit is issued by the IND. We will make an appointment for you to issue your residence permit.

Conditions for assessment against EU law

 

✓        You have a valid passport.

✓        You are not a danger to public order or national security. This means that you have no criminal record and no legal proceedings against you.

        You are one of the following family members of the Union citizen:

    • You are the spouse or registered partner of the Union citizen.

    • You are the unmarried partner of the Union citizen. You have lived together for at least 6 months in a row before the date of the application or decision. Or you have not (yet) lived together for 6 months. But based on your personal situation, there is a lasting relationship.

    • You are the child or grandchild under the age of 21 of a Union citizen. Or from his/her spouse or registered partner.

    • You are the child or grandchild under the age of 18 of the unmarried partner of the Union citizen. You are going to live with your parent or grandparent in the Netherlands.

    • You are the child or grandchild aged 21 or over or the parent or grandparent of a citizen of the Union. Or from his/her spouse or registered partner. You are financially dependent on the Union citizen. You receive money regularly (for example every month) from your family member. You can only pay for your basic needs (e.g. rent, food and drinks) with this money.

    • You are another family member of the Union citizen. For example, an uncle, aunt, nephew or niece. And one of these situations applies to you:

      • You are financially dependent on the Union citizen. You will receive money regularly (e.g. every month) & from your family member. You can only pay for your basic needs (e.g. rent, food and drinks) with this money.

      • You were already living together with the Union citizen in the country of origin.

      • You require care from a Union citizen due to serious health problems.

    • You are the family member of oneDutch national who is subject to EU law.

✓        The Union citizen with whom you are going to live has lawful residence in the Netherlands. This  

            means that the citizen of the Union is aproof of registration or a registration card from the IND

            has. Or a valid Dutch residence permit.

 

            The Union citizen still meets the conditions for lawful residence:                                                                           

  • A valid passport or identity card from an EU, EEA or Switzerland country.

  • Medical insurance.

Costs facilitating visa application

 

There are costs associated with a facilitating visa application and an application assessment against EU law.

Get a facilitating Schengen visano legal fees fee, the facilitating visa itself is free and often ready faster than a Schengen visa for non-family members.

 

You pay for the work of Immigration Services the Netherlands. We charge a fixed amount

by€199,- excluding VATper facilitating visa application. We charge a fixed amount for the application for an assessment against EU law€599 excluding VATper request.

Step 2 - Payment

Complete your registration by completing the registration form. You can then complete the visa application safely

pay online via one of the payment methods: iDeal (most commonly chosen payment method) PayPal or credit card (Mastercard / Visa). 

Step 3 - Confirm

As soon as we have received your registration via our website, we will confirm the order by e-mail through a written order confirmation. After creating the file and confirming the assignment, we will start working on your case.

You will receive an email from us with what you need to create a file. We store your data in our system. This information will not be provided to third parties and is only intended for the assignment and processing of the necessary forms and documents.

​After receiving the necessary documents for the application for a facilitating visa, you will receivewithin 5 working days the entire application from us. The application can then be submitted to the Dutch embassy or consulate in the country where you live. You can also apply at an embassy of another country where the Netherlands is represented.

 

(!) You must always apply for a facilitating visa in person at the Dutch embassy or consulate in the country of origin. During the appointment, you identify yourself and hand in your passport at the Dutch embassy or consulate.​ We will arrange the appointment for a facilitating visa application.
