This transit visa gives permission to transit at a Dutch airport, but does not grant access to the Netherlands.

A visa for a stopover in the Netherlands

 

 

When you have astopover makes on aairport in the Netherlands, during a trip to or from a destination outside the Schengen area, in certain cases you will need an airport transit visa (type A visa) or antransit visa to have. Whether you need an airport transit visa depends, among other things, on your nationality. An airport transit visa only allows you to transfer to another plane to a destination outside the Schengen area. You are not allowed to leave the international zone of the airport in the Netherlands, not even to collect luggage. You therefore have no access to the Schengen area and are not allowed to leave the airport.

You can apply for a transit visa at a Dutch embassy or consulate abroad. 

Are you traveling from the airport by plane, car, train or bus to another Schengen country? Or are you staying in the Netherlands for a few days? Then you may need a Schengen visa (C visa) or tourist visa.

 

Objection to rejection of airport transit visa

Decision period for objection procedure

The IND has 4 weeks to decide on your objection, this period is called the decision period. This 4-week period starts on the date you receive the decision. The 4-week period starts on the date that you receive the decision from the Dutch embassy or consulate.

Has another country, not the Netherlands, decided on your visa application? Then file an objection with that country.

You cannot object to the IND.

Your objection is declared well-founded

The decision is positive: Your objection is well-founded. This means that the IND agrees with you. You will still receive a positive decision on your airport transit visa application. This means that you will still receive the transit visa.

You collect the visa within 3 months at the Dutch embassy or consulate where you applied for the airport transit visa.                                            

Airport transit visa exemptions

 

In some situations you do not need an airport transit visa;

 

✓        You have a visa or residence permit for oneSchengen country, EU country or EEA country;

✓        You have a visa for Canada, Japan or the United States;

         You have a residence permit that guarantees unlimited return for Andorra, San Marino,

            Canada, Japan or the United States;

✓         You are related to a national of the EU, EEA or Switzerland;

        You have a diplomatic passport; 

✓        You have a service or official passport. Please note: this only applies to a number of nationalities;

✓        You are an airline crew and you have the nationality of a country that is a member of the International Civil

            Aviation Organization (ICAO);

 

From February 2, 2020, you do not need an airport transit visa if you have a visa or residence permit for Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius or Saba.

Cost of procedure

 

 

There are costs associated with an airport transit visa application. Thefees for a airport transit amounts€80 per request, forchildren from 6 to 12 years €40 and forThe visa is free for children up to 6 years old. You pay these costs to the Dutch embassy or consulate to process the application.

 

You also pay for the work of Immigration Services the Netherlands. We use a

fixed amount of€149 excluding VAT per airport transit visa application for the entire application procedure.

We will take care of your application and guide you throughout the entire procedure up to and including your transit in the Netherlands.

Is your application unexpectedly rejected? We will file an objection for you free of charge when your request is submitted

Complete your registration by completing the registration form. You can then complete the visa application safely

pay online via one of the payment methods: iDeal (most commonly chosen payment method) PayPal or credit card (Mastercard / Visa). 

Step 3 - Confirm

As soon as we have received your registration via our website, we will confirm the order by e-mail

a written order confirmation. After creating the file and confirming the order

we will get started on your case.

You will receive an email from us with what you need to create a file. We store your data

in our system. This information will not be provided to third parties and is only intended for the assignment and processing of the necessary forms and documents.

After receiving the required documents for the airport transit visa application, you will receive 

youwithin 2 working days the entire application from us. The application can then be submitted to the Dutch embassy or consulate in the country where you live. Requests from 

an embassy of another country where the Netherlands is represented is also possible.
