Does your residence permit for the Netherlands expire when you are abroad? Are you traveling abroad, but is your residence permit no longer valid? 

 

To travel back to the Netherlands you may need a return visa. With the return visa you show that you are in the Netherlands

may be.

Information course

 

Our exam-oriented course in preparation for the basic integration exam abroad (A1):

​•          lasts 3 weeks and consists of weekly ​2 hours of intensive lessons
​•          consists of a total of 6 hours of private lessons and is given via Skype
​•          ​is ​entirely online and exclusively focused on the exam
•          is given in English, English teaching materials are also available
​​•          consists of private lessons where and when it suits you, including in the evenings
•          taught live by a teacher via Skype
​•          includes teaching materials/weekly homework per exam component
​•          will be concluded with an exam training
​•          offers a pass rate of​ 95%  with an exam guarantee*

During the course we focus on the 3 exam parts of the basic integration exam abroad: ​reading skills, speaking skills and knowledge of Dutch society (KNM).​ After the integration course you are you are fully prepared for the exam. *when the candidate has mastered language level A1. You will also receive the exam questions for the basic integration exam abroad from us.

If you unexpectedly do not pass the exam in one sitting, we offer an exam guarantee* and you will receive another lesson for the relevant exam part for which you did not pass in one sitting, free of charge. The result of the basic integration exam abroad is valid for 1 year.

Visa requirement return visa for the Netherlands

You only need a return visa if you are subject to a visa requirement. This means that you need a visa to travel to the Netherlands due to your nationality. Are you not required to have a visa? And is your residence permit no longer valid? Then travel back to the Netherlands within your free period. You do not need a return visa for this. Sometimes other authorities or organizations (e.g. an airline or customs) still request a return visa. Check this with the other authority or organization before departure.

Apply for a return visa

You can apply for a return visa for the Netherlands at the Dutch embassy or consulate in the country

where you are currently staying.The processing of a return visa takes one or a few days.

Decision on your request

 

The Dutch embassy or the Immigration and Naturalization Service will immediately assess your application

the appointment. The decision is positive or negative. If the decision is positive, the return visa will be stuck in your passport. This day is also the starting date of the visa. If a negative decision is made, you will not receive a return visa.

Traveling back with a return visa

You can travel back to the Netherlands with a return visa and a valid passport (or other travel document). The return visa allows you to travel through other Schengen countries. This is allowed on the outward and return journey.

You do not need an additional visa or permission for this. A return visa does not allow you to stay in another Schengen country, such as for a holiday.

 

Validity of return visa

A return visa is valid for a maximum of 3 months. Is your passport valid for a shorter period of time? Then the return visa is valid until 1 month before the date on which your passport is no longer valid.

In these situations a return visa is valid for longer than 3 months:

  • You are waiting for the decision on your application for extension of your residence permit for study.             You have to go abroad for your studies for a longer period of time. The return visa is valid for a maximum of 6 months.

  • You have applied for a new permanent residence document. Your current permanent residence document is no longer valid. The visa is valid for a maximum of 12 months.

  • You are Moluccan. The visa can be issued for 12 months or longer.

When can you apply for a return visa?

 

You can apply for a return visa in one of the following situations:

✓         You have submitted an application for extension or change of your residence permit. Whether you

            you have applied for a permanent residence permit. You are awaiting the decision.

✓         Your residence document has been lost, stolen or damaged. Or there is incorrect information on your account

            residence document that prevents you from entering the Netherlands.

​✓         Your child was born in the Netherlands. You have a residence permit for your child for the first time

            requested. You are awaiting the decision.

​✓         You have submitted an application for assessment against EU law or an application for the first time

            to live with your Dutch child under the age of 18. This is an application to live with you

            family member with the nationality of an EU, EEA or Switzerland country. You are awaiting

            the decision.

When do you need an urgent reason for the application?

You must have an urgent reason in these situations: 

✓         You have applied for a residence permit for the first time. You are awaiting the

            decision. Your MVV visa is no longer valid or you do not need an MVV visa.

✓         Your application for a residence permit has been rejected. You have submitted an objection or appeal.

            You can await the decision in the Netherlands. Your MVV visa is no longer valid or you do not have one

            MVV visa required.

Kosten procedure

 

Aan een terugkeervisum aanvraag zitten kosten (leges) verbonden. De legeskosten van een terugkeervisum bedragen € 164,- per aanvraag. Turkse onderdanen en hun gezinsleden betalen € 48. Deze kosten betaalt u

aan de Nederlandse ambassade of bij het IND-loket om de aanvraag in behandeling te nemen.

 

Daarnaast betaalt u ook voor de werkzaamheden van Immigration Services the Netherlands. Wij hanteren

een vast bedrag van € 99,- exclusief BTW per terugkeervisum aanvraag. Wij verzorgen uw aanvraag en begeleiden u gedurende de hele procedure tot en met uw aankomst in Nederland.

Geen legeskosten terugkeervisum

U hoeft niet te betalen voor een terugkeervisum in deze situaties:

  • U bent naar Nederland gekomen met een geldig MVV visum, maar uw verblijfsvergunning is nog niet klaar.

  • U hebt verlenging gekregen van uw verblijfsvergunning. De verlenging is minder dan 1 maand geldig.          U hebt daarom geen verblijfsdocument gekregen.

  • U hebt een aanvraag ingediend. De wettelijke termijn is voorbij de IND heeft nog geen beslissing genomen.

  • U hebt een geldig diplomatiek paspoort.

  • U bent familielid van iemand met de nationaliteit van een land van de EU, EER  of Zwitserland.                   Een familielid van een Nederlander moet meestal wel betalen voor een terugkeervisum. 

  • De Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken zegt dat u geen kosten hoeft te betalen.

  • De Wet betreffende de positie van Molukkers geldt voor u.

Wordt uw aanvraag onverhoopt afgewezen? We tekenen kosteloos bezwaar voor u aan wanneer uw aanvraag door Immigration Services is ingediend.

Complete your registration by completing the registration form. You can then complete the visa application safely

pay online via one of the payment methods: iDeal (most commonly chosen payment method) PayPal or credit card (Mastercard / Visa). 

Step 3 - Confirm

As soon as we have received your registration via our website, we will confirm the order by e-mail through a written order confirmation. After creating the file and confirming the assignment, we will start working on your case.

You will receive an email from us with what you need to create a file. We store your data in our system. This information will not be provided to third parties and is only intended for the assignment and processing of the necessary forms and documents.

After receiving the necessary documents for the return visa application, you will receive:within 2 working daysthe entire application from us. The application can then be submitted to the Dutch embassy or an IND desk.

 

(!) You must always apply for the return visa application in person at the Dutch embassy or an IND desk. You must identify yourself during the appointment. The Dutch embassy or the Immigration and Naturalization Service will assess your application immediately during the appointment. If the decision is positive, the return visa will be stuck in your passport. This day is also thestarting date from thereturn visa.
