Changing a Single entry to a Multiple entry Schengen visa

You are in the Netherlands with a valid Schengen visa type C, this is asingle entry visa. This means that you may only enter the Schengen area once. A special and unexpected situation has now arisen, which means you have to travel to the Schengen area more often. You therefore want to change your visa to onemultiple entry visa. This is a visa that allows you to enter and leave the Schengen area more than once.

NB! With a multiple entry visa you are not allowed to stay in the Netherlands and the Schengen area longer

with a single entry visa. With a multiple entry visa you may therefore be in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period.

Apply for a multiple entry visa change

To change your short-stay Schengen visa, make an appointment with theIND, the Immigration and Naturalization Service. We will make this appointment for you. You must come to the appointment yourself. On the day of the appointment, bring the documents for the visa change with you, and you will receive the entire file from us. The IND will immediately assess your application at the appointment.

The decision is positive or negative. If the decision is positive, you will receive a multiple entry Schengen visa.

The counter employee will stick the multiple entry visa in your passport. This is still a Schengen visa type C. In the event of a negative decision, the IND will not change your visa to multiple entry.

Object to a negative decision

Is your visa not being changed and you do not agree? Then request the IND employee to put the rejection in a letter. You will receive the letter with the negative decision (decision) within 2 weeks, and you can object to this decision. Object within 4 weeks after you have received the decision.

With a thorough objection, we strive for a successful objection procedure and help you obtain the visa within 4 weeks.
