The Residence Permit Scheme for Foreign Start-ups gives you the opportunity to apply for a temporary residence permit in the Netherlands.

 

This residence permit gives you 1 year

to start your business in the Netherlands and provide an innovative product or service

to work.

After 1 year you can renew your permit on the grounds   of the scheme for self-employed entrepreneurs.

Forresidence permit for start-ups strict rules apply, because the company is assessed against

based on a 'point system'. This tests whether the work you will carry out will contribute to the Dutch economy. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) carries out this assessment and provides advice to the IND on this basis. It is therefore important that if you wish to apply for this residence permit, you prepare this application properly.

Residence permit conditions for start-ups

 

To be eligible for this scheme, you must meet a number of conditions.

These conditions are:

✓        YOUhave a valid passport or other travel document.

✓        You work with a reliable supervisor:a facilitator. This collaboration must be recorded 

            in a signed agreement between you and the facilitator.

 

✓        You and the facilitator are registered in the Trade Register of the Chamber of Commerce (KvK).

✓        Your company is innovative in the following situations:

    • The product or service is new to the Netherlands.

    • The start-up uses new technology in production, distribution and/or marketing.

    • The start-up has a new way of working and organizing.

✓        You have a (step-by-step) plan to get from idea to business.

  •      RVO assesses the start-up and checks whether you meet the conditions for the step-by-step plan.           
         The step-by-step plan contains the following information:

    • The design of the organization.

    • The roles and tasks.

    • The legal form.

    • Personnel.

    • The purpose of the company.

    • A description of your intended innovative product or service.

    • A description of the planning and activities associated with setting up the company. 

✓        There are sufficient financial resources to be able to live in the Netherlands and you meet the  

           income requirement. You can prove this in 2 different ways:

    • You show with a bank statement that you have sufficient money in your account.

    • Another (legal) person, for example the facilitator, may finance your stay. The amount must be available for your entire stay (maximum 1 year).

 

 

Cost of procedure

 

To obtain a residence permit as astart up There are costs associated with working in the Netherlands. The fee for a residence permit for a start-up is €307 per application. You pay these costs to the Immigration and Naturalization Service to process the application.


You also pay for the work of Immigration Services the Netherlands. We charge a fixed amount of €499 excluding VAT per request.

Registration procedure for start-up residence permit

As soon as we have received your registration via our website, we will confirm the order by e-mail through a written order confirmation. After creating the file and confirming the assignment, we will start working on your case.

You will receive an email from us with what you need to create a file. We store your data in our system. This information will not be provided to third parties and is only intended for the assignment and processing of the necessary forms and documents.

After receiving the required documents for the application, we aim to submit the application to the Immigration and Naturalization Service within 15 working days.We will take care of your application and guide you throughout the entire procedure up to and including your arrival in the Netherlands.

​The legal decision period of the IND is 90 days. The issuance of the MVV (entry) visa at the Dutch embassy or consulate takes 5 to 10 working days. You must enter the Netherlands within 3 months after the IND has made a positive decision. The issuance of your MVV with residence permit is carried out by the IND, you collect your residence permit at an IND counter in your areaor at one of the Expat Centers in the Netherlands.
